skeletal GALENA, CHALCOPYRITE (Ref: 22743)

9th Septemvri mine (Deveti Septemvri mine), Madan ore field, Rhodope Mts, Smolyan Oblast, Bulgaria

49mm x 44mm x 29mm

$95

Striking skeletal galena crystals from this closed mine - 9th Septemvri mine, Madan ore field, Bulgaria – the only one that makes these structures. The skeletal structure is caused by very fast growth of the mineral where the crystal faces do not have the time to be completed, because the edges grow faster than the center of the faces. It displays very attractive stepped growth, forming gorgeous terraced structures. The galena cubes are matt lustrous. They are well formed with sharp geometry. On the galena are seen yellow chalcopyrite incrustations, outlining nicely the rims. Black and lustrous sphalerite tetrahedrons are seen too. In very good condition – some base part contacts. On acrylic base., Overwhelming skeletal galena!,
