The best piece from a new find at Mundo Nuevo, best known for its ferberites, fluorites, and even scheelite. This is also a new locality for the species. Although it occurs at other locations, Peruvian realgar is primarily known from the Palomo Mine, this find would probably be the second major occurrence of the species in the country. Thousands of bright red realgar crystals are interspersed among very sharply terminated white quartz crystals, there are a couple spots of minor damage but in general the piece is in great condition for the size. Operations at this mine were once much larger in scale, though key parts of the site were blown up by Shining Path guerillas in the early 1990's. The site has been mostly abandoned since.
