Scheelite on Quartz (Ref: 1725)

Definitely a stunning small cabinet sized Scheelite specimen from Zinnwald in Saxony. Here we have bipyramidal Scheelite crystals measuring to 5 mm in diameter with pinacoid faces. They are richly scattered over a thin and on one side nicely terminated, tabular Quartz crystal. The Scheelite here ranges from lucent to transparent with almost chestnut-brown colour. The crystals are sharp edged and highly lustrous with almost good terminations. The sliver of creamy coloured Quartz (which forms the matrix) is interesting in its own right, varying between only 2 mm and 6 mm thick, with each side displaying aligned crystalized surfaces which produce a glistening look . An eye-catching small cab of Scheelite exceeding hard to come by nowadays.
