Apatite & Quartz (Ref: 7087)

Despite the Zufurt quarry near Wunsiedel in the Bavarian Fichtelgebirge mountains is still in operation, virtually no even remotely noteworthy finds are made these days. The majority of the now-famous specimens were mostly discovered after World War II, but especially in the early 1980s. This includes the present superb cluster, which is somewhat reminiscent of the pieces from Panasqueira but definitely comes from the Zufurt Quarry. The hexagonal, olive-green Apatite crystals showing an exceptional luster, are partially gemmy, and exhibit wonderful phantoming in the peripheral zones. They are up to 2.3 cm in diameter, which is quite enormous for this locality. They are well formed, and there is only minor brusing at the lower crystal. These excellent crystals are accompanied by some long-prismatic beige Quartz. A superbly rare piece and a ´MUST´ for collectors of German classics.
