Pyrite (Ref: WW-0030)

Borieva Mine, Madan ore field, Smolyan Province, Bulgaria
53mm x 42mm x 37mm
minID: L9D-GFL - This is NOT the product reference. DO NOT QUOTE THIS ON ORDERS.
$60
Pyrite is well known for it's perfectly formed cubic crystals, however this specimen has rejected that stereotype completely in favor of highly distorted and irregular crystals - there isn't a traditional cube on this specimen! The surfaces are highly lustrous and striated. The specimen shows no obvious point of attachement (a "floater"). Minor quartz and sphalerite are associated. There is some damage.
Data last checked on 18th Apr 2024 - specimen may no longer be available
