Stunning and very rare shigaite crystals decorating sparkling rhodochrosite from this famous locality - NChwaning I Mine, South Africa. Shigaite is a very rare hydrated manganese aluminum sodium sulfate and the finest specimens for the species come from this locality. It displays strongly sparkling and fresh rhodochrosite crystals with vivid pink color. Above grow two shigaite crystals to 5mm. They form an aesthetic focal point at the top. They are sharp, tabular and hexagonal crystals with rich honey-red color. They are strongly light reflective and shiny. For references see the 2017 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 48, # 1.
