An outstanding specimen of skeletal galena from the famous 9th Septemvri mine, Madan ore field, Bulgaria. The mines in Madan produce some of the finest galena in the world and this is a superb specimen. The skeletal structure is caused by very fast growth of the mineral where the crystal faces do not have the time to be completed because the edges grow faster than the center. It displays very attractive stepped growth, forming gorgeous terraced structures on all faces. The galena cubes are matt lustrous, well formed and have a sharp geometry. On the galena are seen black sphalerite incrustations proving the natural origin of the skeletal structures. In very good condition – some small contacts. On acrylic base., Astonishing!,
