Here we see a superbly crystallized, slightly sculptural Goethite specimen from the old-time Restormel Royal Iron Mine in Lostwithiel near St. Austell in Cornwall. Originally it was called Trinity Mine and then Restormel Iron Mine, it attained its royal status following a visit by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in 1846, from which Albert took a specimen for his mineral collection. This mounded, small, cabinet-sized specimen consists of nearly massive Goethite interspersed with thin veins of shard-like Quartz with abundant areas of beautifully acicular appearing, nicely crystallized, lustrous, black metallic Goethite up to 0,5 cm in size.Data last checked on 28th Jan 2026 - specimen may no longer be available
