Diopside - doubly terminated gem crystal (Ref: 21.1-163)
Merelani Hills, Lelatama Mountains, Simanjiro District, Manyara Region, Tanzania
32mm x 17mm x 9mm
minID: Q1G-R8P
A perfect, complete doubly terminated green Diopside that is fully transparent gem. Of the dozens of these Diopside seen on Mindat none are doubly terminated, this is a very rare example. Some complex geometric internal structures are seen with a close exam as are a few internal Graphite crystals. No damage, and very glassy luster. From Merelani, famed for Tanzanite crystals, these gem Diopsides are much less common on the market, and doubly terminated crystals are very rare in any quality. From: Well-Arranged Molecules
