Huanzala Mine, Ancash Department, Huallanca, Huallanca District, Bolognesi Province, Peru
Brillant mirror-bright, highly lustrous crystals of pyrite form a sculptural cabinet sized piece that is classic for Huanzala Mine, Peru. These crystals are high quality and are an excellent example from a premier locality that once produced much material, but has now been highly regulated in terms of specimen recovery leading to difficulty of quality pieces being offered on the market. While there have been a few pieces of a more recent find, they are typically of a smoother habit while this piece has the classic deep striations of this locality. The edges are also beveled and there are larger crystals that give visual interest.
