A big (228 gram) gem Topaz from Volodarskthat is strongly bi-colored. The termination is clear and glassy while the prism sides are frosted. It is possible to see through the crystal along the "C'" axis and it is almost all clean facet grade. Two natural cracks with a small separation are near the middle of the crystal, both are partial and rehealed. No damage at all, the crystal is 360 degree recrystallized and etched all around so it is a complete floater. The colors are a bit stronger in person as well, the cognac and blue tones are a very fine contrast and quite well presented. The Volodarsk pegmatites are famed for the great Heliodor and Beryl crystals found in the huge pockets over the past several decades, but the Topaz like this are also exceptional but much less common.
