Benitoite (Ref: LL738)
Gem Mine, San Benito Co., California, USA
20mm x 18mm x 13mm
minID: 1JM-PMR
Single Benitoite with 'textbook' form. Benitoite is the only mineral that crystallizes in the trigonal bipyramidal form, a form that was only hypothesized prior to it's discovery. Here you have a perfect example of the rare form (and a rare mineral). It looks almost like a crystal model. Thick and complete all around, with Crossite inclusions. From: Marin Minerals
