Schorl with Cleavelandite (Ref: 20.1-299-(LW1122))
Urucum Mine, Galileia, Minas Gerais, Brazil
34mm x 26mm x 17mm
minID: N0N-Y4J
A "candelabra" style specimen of slender Tourmalines in a pretty arrangement offset by well-crystallized Cleavelandite. This will fit in a thumbnail box (barely) and has very nice contrast. Originally labeled as an Elbaite, but on close study it is a Schorl. Ex Larry White collection he obtained it from the Brauns in 1975. I do not see many attractive Schorl of this sort and never in thumbnail size. While not a rare specie it is surprisingly rare to see in thumbnail collections. From: Well-Arranged Molecules
