Chrysoberyl var Alexandrite- type locality (Ref: 16.1-394-(CN1031))
Izumrudnye Kopi, Malysheva, Ekaterinburg, Swerlovskaya Oblast, Mid Urals, Urals Region, Russia
31mm x 26mm x 19mm
minID: N5V-XW0
From the classic, type locality this is a cluster of Alexandrite crystals with excellent color change from green to red. This is nearly all Chrysoberyl with just a minor Mica and Quartz matrix. The crystals all show twinning and the largest is a sixling twin. From the collection of Charles M Noll, the edges of all crystals are translucent and in person the color is quite vibrant. It is quite hard to find any Alexandrite from the Urals and especially from the type locality. This is certainly a fine example. From: Well-Arranged Molecules
