A superb specimen of gem garnet var. demantoid crystals from the famous Jeffrey mine, Quebec, Canada.  On white amphibole base sit demantoid crystals to 4mm with sharp rhombic dodecahedral habit. The crystals are lustrous, translucent to transparent and gem. The color is from apple-green to rich and saturated grass-green, which is much rarer. On the white matrix the demantoids contrast strongly. This was mined long time ago - the mine is closed now. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. Some natural imperfections and contacts. On acrylic base., Excellent demantoid!
