WULFENITE (Ref: 22394)

Very rare old specimen of orange-red wulfenite crystals from Sortuz, Karaganda Region, Kazakstan. It is accompanied by an original vintage label listing the locality as Sit-Schag, Kazakstan. “Sit-Schag” is an old USSR-era locality name for a recognized wulfenite occurrence, though it does not correspond to modern Kazakh geographic terminology. The crystal habit and overall morphology are fully consistent with known specimens from Sortuz, making this attribution highly likely. It displays wulfenite crystals to 9mm growing in a cluster. They are sharp, flat tabular crystals with beveled edges. The color is vivid orange-red. The crystals are medium lustrous and well light reflective. They show some transparency.
