Vivianite on Siderite (Ref: 7096)

This incredibly aesthetic piece features a wonderful gem-like, 3.8 cm, excellent, and very well-terminated Vivianite crystal, nicely perched atop a beautiful matrix of brown, 3 mm Siderite discs. A beautiful combination specimen from the famous and ancient Starí Trg Mine of the Trepča mining complex in Kosovo. The Vivianite here has great luster and is very translucent with incredibly green color. The crystal is well developed of course, almost pristine around and it is NOT glued, which occurred frequently, especially during the active mining period. Vivianite is a rare and seldom available species from this historic mine, and this is a rare, display-worthy specimen of this type from Europe.
