The Garnet deposits of the Gava Valley, which is located approximately 25 km west of te Metropolitan city of Genoa and is, among other things, a famous destination for climbing. It has over the years provided a large number of very excellent Hessonite specimens of outstanding quality. Such as this one, with dark red-brown dodecahedral crystals, which are extremely large and gemmy. They have an exceptionally high vitreous luster, which makes the entire specimen sparkle from every angle. A choice specimen, highly aesthetic, with only the most minimal, absolutely negligible imperfections, which are hardly visible to the unaided eye.Data last checked on 28th Jan 2026
