Pyrite (Ref: pnp1940)
Navajun, La Rioja, Spain
69mm x 63mm x 53mm
An amazing and quite beautiful specimen of cubic Pyrite from Spain. It features three MIRROR-BRIGHT cubes of golden Pyrite to 3.8 cm. intergrown with one another to create a fantastic formation that is quite attractive no matter which side you view it from. MUCH SHINIER in person. I purchased this cluster directly from the mine owner, who informed me that virtually all such "chains" of Pyrite cubes from this locality are reconstructed after removal from the hard clay host rock, this piece is no exception . A really choice example of this material, with a very graceful composition that is dazzling all the way around. I've included a short VIDEO showing all sides of the specimen - note that the video quality is not very good and that the colors in the video are inaccurate, but it will give you a good idea of its three-dimensional shape.
