Mottramite on Quartz ps. Calcite (Ref: MOTT-0050)

From a new release of a previous find at the Black Knife group, the specimens from the Mottramite Pocket feature the sharp quartz encrustation pseudomorphs after scalenohedral calcite that the locality has become known for, but were accented with a powdery coating of yellow-green mottramite. This specimen features a cluster of pseudomorphs – the bottom reveals that the original calcite is still largely present.. The mottramite richly coats the specimen in a dark green to black. The form of the pseudomorph is clear under the coating; clear patches in the coating reveal mint green octahedral fluorite. There is some very isolated scuffing in the mottramite coating, but the specimen is otherwise pristine.
