Pyrite (Ref: RG0302)
C. E. Duff & Son quarry, Huntsville, Logan Co., Ohio, USA
64mm x 54mm x 43mm
$75
Numerous brassy Pyrite crystals to 4 mm line a pocket in grey Silurian-age dolomitic limestone, where they were etched out of calcite. Duff's Quarry was well known for its unusual Pyrite trapezohedral forms, which are well represented on this specimen. In my personal collection since 1984, these specimens are no longer produced due to closure of the quarry to collecting. No damage.ex. Bob Griffis collectionex. John Medici specimen
