A very beautiful thumbnail of fluorite from the recent find. While the vast majority of specimens from here are a somewhat undersaturated gray green, some of them have deeper, more saturated green color. The transparency is such that you can see clear through the main face down to the matrix below. The color of these pieces varies strongly with lighting-- under incandescent light they look grayish and undersaturated. To be best appreciated, they need the equivalent of indirect sunlight. What is depicted in the pictures is what you would see if the piece were placed next to a window on a cloudy day.It is exceedingly difficult to find good thumbnail sized specimens of Chinese fluorite. The crystals always come as large plates, attached to each other or chunks of matrix in such a way that it would be nearly impossible to get a good thumbnail.
