Fluorite
Xiayang Mine, Yongchun Co., Fujian Prov., China
50 x 30 x 29mm
A beautiful specimen
of fluorite from the recent find at the Xiayang Mine (sometimes
referred to as the "Yongchun Mine.). While the vast majority of specimens
from here are a somewhat undersaturated gray green, some of them
have deeper, more saturated green color.
The color of these pieces varies strongly with lighting-- under
incandescent light they look grayish and undersaturated. To be best
appreciated, they need the equivalent of indirect sunlight. What is
depicted in the pictures is what you would see if the piece were placed next to
a window on a cloudy day.
