Large, lustrous Dioptase crystals on white Calcite from Tsumeb, Namibia. The Dioptase crystals reach 2.3cm in size and are translucent to transparent. Although Dioptase specimens are found at other worldwide localities, those from Tsumeb, especially on white Calcite crystals, are considered the world's best and let's face it, Tsumeb is the magic word to most connoisseurs of fine mineral specimens. The Dioptase crystals show a unique fine etching that extends into the gemmy crystals. Dioptase is notoriously difficult to photograph and this is MUCH better in person. At 12cm wide, this is a large and significant Tsumeb Dioptase.From: Marin Minerals
