A gorgeous arrangement of brilliant pink dolomite crystals are set in a limonite vug. The crystal forms are curved rhombohedrons (saddles) and are color zoned with the brightest pink on their edges. The centers are a slightly lighter pink. The crystals form in varying directions, really giving depth of color to the piece. The contrasting limonite gossan surrounds and highlights the crystals. This piece is from "The Star of Africa" mine, which is not known for producing cobalt included carbonates with regularity, although these are popular pieces from other localities in the Congo.
