Cobaltoan calcite from the Congo is wonderfully colorful in bright pink in its best pieces. This specimen has a little bit of a unique color that is purple-pink and deeply saturated below the surface, giving it an immersed aesthetic. It is intermingled with a bright green malachite, which is a primary formation of highly lustrous acicular needles. In fact, the entire specimen is highly enjoyable through magnification as all the details that are visible from afar are greatly more intricate than they initially appear. The piece has normal, vug edgewear, but the crystals are without damage.
