An excellent and very colorful example of a Calcite with blood-red Cuprite (variety Chalcotrichite) included in Calcite crystals. Calcites from Bisbee were sometimes included by Copper minerals, often Malachite, and colored by these inclusions. This is a sizable example of this quite rare and prized red Calcite from the Campbell shaft at Bisbee. There are cleaved crystals at the outer edges but the main red Calcites are in good condition overall. The matrix is a solid ore and has a few areas of micro Cuprites on it as well. The Calcite crystals are up to about 1 CM. Most Bisbee minerals seen in displays are green or blue, bright red specimens are uncommon and really stand out. These old Calcites are just about never available except from the breakup of old collections.
