Garnet pseudomorphed by Chamosite (Chlorite) (Ref: 15.1-893)
Michigamme, Marquette County, Michigan, United States
52mm x 38mm x 28mm
minID: U0G-HGA
$130
Perfectly formed Chamosite pseudo having the shape of the original Garnet (probably Almandine). Unlike most from this classic find, this is a matrix specimen, and the crystal is not rounded but is very sharp. These were first collected over 130 years ago (at that time called Aphrosiderite, a discredited name) and still are sometimes found, but rarely of good quality. A nice affordable classic pseudomorph. Data last checked on 20th Sep 2022 - specimen may no longer be available
