This specimen perfectly demonstrates the conditions that nearly all of these famous New Mexican blue halites were found in: a solid block of sylvite encases a hidden world of halite crystals set on a sylvinite. The sylvite plays an essential role in the coloration of the halite and this specimen showcases that relationship beautifully. The matrix has been stabilized.
