Crystallized Copper with Mimetite on Smithsonite. (Ref: AK999)
Tsumeb Mine, Oshikoto Region. Namibia.
75mm x 40mm x 35mm
minID: 6WD-95E
This specimen is quite unusual. Native copper in any form is rare at Tsumeb, let alone in a dendritic / arborescent form. With the association of a smithsonite covered matrix and Mimetite, this specimen is quite uncommon. Under magnification there are also a few small sharp cuprites and what looks like a second generation of Mimetite. From: Crystal Fraction
