The “Copper Country” of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan is undeniably one the most substantial mineral deposits in the western hemisphere. In its heyday, the area was the world's greatest producer of native Copper, and is best known not only for producing superb crystallized examples, but large display specimens to boot! Here we have a very dramatic, impressive, showy display piece featuring arborescent, or dendritic, growths of crystallized Copper flaring out like a large piece of metallic, branching fire coral. It is essentially crystallized all the way around, although crudely in many areas. The classic patina that is characteristically seen in the top specimens from this area is clearly exhibited in this eye-catching beauty. These specimens are becoming more and more difficult to find on the market today, and this is a very good sized specimen of this most highly sought after material from Michigan. Good crystallized cabinet sized Coppers from this area are amongst the most desirable of all native elements for collectors. For sheer size and aesthetics you can’t deny that this one is a powerfully poignant Copper from any locality. Very well priced for the amount of Copper present!
