A stunning, complete calcite stalactite from Williamson Co., Texas, USA! This specimen was collected by Shawn Maddox in 2012 and consists of a multitude of steep rhombohedral calcite crystals that formed via speleothem (hole through which the mineralizing solution dripped, forming the stalactite). The calcite is a nice golden yellow color with inclusions of red-orange iron oxides that give the specimen a subtle contrast of color. The floral-like arrangement of the crystals around the speleothem in quite aesthetic and the specimen is highly UV reactive, fluorescing a pleasing yellow-green color. No significant damage.
