A fantastic specimen of smithsonite crystals over blue aurichalcite base from Yanga Koubenza quarry, Mfouati, Congo - Brazzaville. It resembles the famed smithsonite and aurichalcite combinations from Kelly Mine, New Mexico, United States, which are among the most highly prized in the world. The smithsonite crystals have good shape and pearly luster. They are from white to colorless but appear with vivid and rich sea-blue chatoyant color, due to the aurichalcite base. Aurichalcite forms botryoidal hemispheres. Very colorful piece with fresh velvet appearance. In excellent condition – the back is sawed.
