Rapid Creek, Dawson Mining District, Yukon Territory, Canada
26mm x 16mm x 11mm
$220
A fine specimen of gemmy lazulite crystals with quartz and fluorapatite from the famous phosphate deposits of Yukon. Lazulite is a rare magnesium aluminum phosphate and some of the finest come from this locality. The lazulite crystals are sharp, highly lustrous, very well formed, monoclinic, deep indigo blue color measuring up to 8mm. Many crystals have gemmy areas with a striking royal-blue and green color. Transparent quartz crystals add a nice contrast. Small fluorapatite crystals are seen too. For references see the 1992 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 23, # 4. In excellent condition – some outside edge contacts. On acrylic base., Gorgeous!,
