An exceptional specimen of weloganite crystals on a smoky quartz from the type locality Francon quarry, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Weloganite is very rare strontium, sodium, zirconium carbonate and Francon quarry produced by far the best specimens for the species in the world. On a base of sharp smoky quartz crystal grow well isolated weloganite crystals. The weloganites are irregular barrel shaped hexagons up to 9 mm. They have growth striations and are lustrous. They are yellow, slightly transparent and some are doubly terminated. The smoky quartz show cool skeletal features and strong luster. This type of piece is very unusual.
