Malachite pseudomorph after Azurite (Ref: 7155)
Tsumeb Mine (Tsumcorp Mine) | Tsumeb | Otjikoto Region | Namibia
45mm x 37mm x 23mm
$855 *
This is a breathtakingly beautiful pseudomorph of forest-green Malachite after Azurite, pristine all around and contrasting on a quartz-rich matrix. Tsumeb, perhaps the largest of all localities, is known, among other things, for its Malachite pseudomorph after Azurite. One of the mine´s most famous specimens since the late 19th century has been these velvety large Malachite crystals (themselves a replacement for earlier azurite). Rarely, however, do we find crystals as sharp as this, where the faithful preservation of the azurite shape is highlighted by iridescent crystal faces, as in this piece. The main crystal measures 2.9 cm on edge. Definitely a highly aestetic and well balanced specimen in splendid condition. Ex Bernhard Dünkel collection.Data last checked on 18th Aug 2025 - specimen may no longer be available
