This is a Quartz var. Amethyst from Boekenhoutshoek area, Mkobola, Nkangala Dist. Mun., Mpumalanga, South Africa. This amethyst is an intensely colored example from the classic finds, now nearly 20 years ago from early 2000s, of complex amethyst in multiple generations of growth, called "cactus quartz" by the locals from a remote area of South Africa.
