A beautiful matrix specimen full of dark, highly-lustrous Andradite garnet trapezohedrons to 8 mm. The faces are very shiny with well-formed striations. Under strong backlight, which I can’t photograph, the crystals have an orangish-red color. A pocket on the back of the specimen contains elongated, juicy brownish-red, gemmy, translucent crystals. There is some trivial damage which is hard to see. The specimen displays well and is quite showy. Classic material from this noted locale, which produces the best Greek garnets, no doubt!Data last checked on 29th Jul 2026
