A mesmerizing smithsonite perimorph after calcite from Level 8 in the famous San Antonio Mine, East Camp, Santa Eulalia District, Mexico. Perimprph is a type of pseudomorph where a mineral replaces another mineral and the original mineral dissolves, leaving a hollow cast surrounded by the new mineral. The smithsonite took the shape of scalenohedral calcite which was replaced. The color is a pleasing khaki with fresh, sparkling, velvet appearance. Quartz crystals grow at the base.
