Bikitaite is a very rare lithium-aluminum silicate and large, well-formed crystals like this world class competitive crystal are exceptional and rare. This big, beautiful blade has the high luster and transparency so desired in the species, and just not seen in this size; it measures 3.2 cm in length and 1.1 cm across! Often, they are micros and this Bikitaite is the largest we are aware of. This is a superb and important thumbnail from the Foote Lithium Company Mine in North Carolina. Ex. Jack Eaker collection. Jack was the mine assayist during the heyday of its working life in the 1970s and 1980s, and built what is universally considered to be the finest collection of Foote Mine minerals.
