This freak find from one pocket in the old amazonite mining district is a LARGE specimen of mixed goethite and hematite completely replacing large rhombohedral calcite crystals! Here is something from Colorado you do not see everyday! The specimen is complete all around. It is HEAVY, clearly composed of some kind of hematite. While dark in color and matte in texture, it is definitely not "ugly," and has good symmetries to display aside from its intellectual interest. Collected by the Dorris family (as seen on the TV show, Prospectors), in 2015.
