This Quartz cluster displays super glassy luster and unprecedented gemminess for "Herkimers," not to mention its aesthetic composition! There are ten crystal components in this group ranging in size from less than 1 cm up to 4.9 cm in maximum dimension. Most of the crystals are absolutely water clear and a few have petroleum inclusions for added interest. The majority of the Quartz crystals have typical Quartz form especially looking down the c-axis, but some look a bit unusual due to their weird elongation and random orientation that together makes for a fascinating cluster. The strangest crystal, the total 1 inch gem in the middle, may be going pseudocubic. The photos are almost impossible because this is so optically clear and clean, so this piece needs to be seen in person to appreciate it fully! I have seen thousands of them, and grew up in the Midwest under mentorship of John Medici who collected thousands himself, and I have seen few this good.
