Wurtzite is a rare sulfide, and the best are generally thought to have come out of this mine long ago. This fine combo specimen features an accenting single, large, lustrous, dark gray, galena crystal, measuring 1.7 cm in length. Surrounding the galena crystal like rosettes of a flower are thin, tabular, lustrous black crystals of wurtzite, to 1.6 cm across. Wurtzite is a very uncommon zinc, iron sulfide. Minor drusy pyrite can be found at the base of the specimen. Wurtzite crystals from Potosi are arguably the world's finest! For a miniature, it is hard to imagine one with nicer aesthetics than this in the size range.
