From a single new pocket: Lustrous and translucent, this beautiful elbaite crystal is really a polychrome delight! The bottom two-thirds is watermelon with a large, central pink core and a thin, medium green rim. The remainder of the crystal is captivating with its horizontal zones. A 6 mm thick medium green zone is abruptly truncated by a gemmy 2 mm blue-green zone that is in turn eclipsed by a gorgeous, gemmy to translucent terminal magenta-violet layer. The crystal is bound by glassy, striated trigonal prisms and capped by a pedion with a medium luster. Microchipping very locally along crystal edges and a trace of internal crazing in a very small area near the termination. A choice, colorful elbaite! Weight is 44 grams.
