We see only a few good and large Bisbee Mine malachites on the market these days 100 years after its heyday, and rarely do we see many with the character this one has! This is a great piece that shows bright green, satin lustered botryoids of malachite from 1.4 to 3.7 cm across and about 1.5 cm in height covering this relatively large plate. The botryoids are slightly flattened and with the separation between the avoid to rounded shapes it creates a beautiful texture resulting in a very aesthetic piece. The periphery of the piece shows the color banding from light to medium green as well as a radial texture of the malachite on top of the layering. The bottom of the piece indicates that the malachite formed on a base of brown goethite/gossan matrix. Old material, characteristic of the finds of the late 1800s and early 1900s at the Czar Shaft mine.
